Couldn't play up this time as the posting was accompnied, (wife and daughter). The wife Anne was into just about everthing going, played netball for NZ Forces, was a member of the Cultral Group, did all the other wife'e things, trips etc. We came home in Aug 83, posted back to Waiouru and did time as CClk WTD. |

| Comments: | Stumbled onto this site by accident. Downloaded the Memberships Application and sent it off the other day. First visit to Singas was in 72 as a sapper with the RNZA/RNZE/SAS contingent that came up for Ex Jalan Ulu 1. Got arrested in Aussie on the way over. First night in Singas broke out of open arrest then got locked up. Had the six man cell in Dieppe to myself. Got release from the cells on payment of 2 x $30 (NZ) fines and 14 days CB. Went straight up to the Ulu attached to Aplha Coy as Cbt Engr (Rex Harris CSM) and spent my CB up there. Returned to Dieppe and proceeded to get into more kaka between the Bn and the Bde ex. Got back to NZ after the trip to find out the owners of Eastern Car Rentals were still chasing my to pay for the damage to one of their Ford Escorts that I happend to bend a bit on a night out. Didn't think I'd get back to Singas as I was told I was an unfit ambassador for the country. What a shock when in 81 I was told I was posted up to NZ Wksp as CClk, that |

Well for me its a case of literally being back in the lions den as Ive been living and working in Singapore these past 3 years. For those of you who havent managed to find your way back for even a brief visit then I can tell you that the place is almost unrecognisable from those heady anchor (or tiger depending on your era) drenched days when we were terrorising the city as young turks (Tosh said jerks). Nevertheless its still a great place to hang out, very safe and clean and the makan is still the best. It seems appropriate that I'm writing this note on ANZAC morning 2003 although for the first time since Ive been here I couldnt make it to the dawn service at Kranji.
